Equipment
- Ingredients
Ingredients
- 8- ounce package of cream cheese, room temperature
- 3/4 cup pecan halves, to be turned into finely chopped toasted pecans below
- 2 tablespoons onion, grated
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/2 cup 46 g FirstRate™
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon spicy brown mustard
- Sturdy gluten-free crackers
Instructions
- Set cream cheese out to room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 350 F to toast pecans.
- Spread 1 cup of pecans evenly over an ungreased baking sheet (note: that nuts may toast faster on dark baking sheets and slower on light-colored ones).
- Place the baking sheet with pecans in the oven and toast for 4 - 5 minutes.
- Allow pecans to cool, then cut into finely chopped toasted pecans (note: don’t use extra pecans)
- Thoroughly mix the room temperature cream cheese, onion, and garlic in a small bowl. Transfer the mixture to a serving plate and shape it into a 6-inch disk. Cover and chill in the fridge for 1 hour. (note: you can make this ahead of time and pull out before event)
- 30 min before you are ready to serve, remove the cheese mixture from the refrigerator and allow it to return to room temperature.
- In a medium saucepan, add the butter and FirstRateTM. Stir until mixed well. Add the Worcestershire sauce, then the mustard. Stir continuously over medium heat. Add in toasted pecans. Sauté pecans for 3 - 5 min in sauce.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly for a few minutes. Then spoon pecans over cream cheese, allowing the pecans to fall over the sides.
